Democrats returned to St. Paul in January with a $17.5 billion surplus and total control of state government, which hinges on their one-seat majority in the Senate that was decided by just a few hundred votes. One dissenting voice would have been enough to derail their entire agenda. Instead, swing-district senators were reliable green votes on every major piece of legislation.

POLICY

I have the honor of being the Chair of the Technology & Reform Policy Committee. The committee oversees the state’s IT systems to ensure that Minnesota residents and businesses who interact with the state receive the best possible service.

AGING & LONG-TERM CARE POLICY

In this committee on family care and aging, we were able to work on bills relating to the affordability and accessibility of child care, leave from work for family care purposes, long-term care and bills that would substantially affect the lives of the elderly population of this state.

HEALTH AND HUMAN SERVICES FINANCE & POLICY

The HHS Committee’s primary jurisdiction is medical and public health in Minnesota, including the Department of Health, MNSure, medical boards, and some advisory councils (speech pathologists, athletic trainers, etc.).
 

STATE GOVERNMENT, FINANCE, POLICY & ELECTIONS

The Committee on State Government, Finance and Policy & Elections has jurisdiction over all bills creating a new state agency, substantially changing the organization of a current state agency, or transferring duties from one state agency to another. READ MORE >>>
